i've caught myself, cataloging the particular shapes of him. maybe it is the part of my brain that knows how to draw observing him and learning his geometry. maybe it is a parental instinct to detect which quickly growing and changing children in the tribe is mine.
what surprises me is how soothing it is when i recognize a shape. it is like ticking off a list, i know that ear, he's mine and i am so happy i want to hug him (or take a picture.)

and, yes, his face is covered with marker marks. he got a little excited about the new set of markers. i am glad that i opted for the washable.

for heidi

we were playing with the camera. i sat on the porch and he would run out, pose a couple of times and then come and see what i caught.
this one was specfically for "heidi, heidi, heidi!"
